Suspected enemies of democracy, who were threatened by the unwavering supports for the candidacy of the Delta State House of Assembly’s preferred aspirant in Uvwie constituency, Chief Francis Arhiyor, destroyed two billboards mounted in Ugbomro to welcome Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to the commissioning of the newly constructed road.
The beautiful billboards, ravaged and taken away by those manifesting unhealthy rascality and thuggish politicking, were sponsored by the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Uvwie branch and Francis Arhiyor Vanguard (FAV). This undemocratic act was done last night.
When contacted, Chief Arhiyor described the incident as uncalled for, noting that it was born out of unhealthy jealousy over his overwhelming popularity.
At the time of compiling this report, the incident had been reported to the PDP Chairman, Uvwie LGA, Prince Kelly Otuedon, and efforts were being made to replace the destroyed billboards.
This kind of act could generate unnecessary hitches and political tension in the area. It is undemocratic and must be stalled.
