A lot of people often ask me why I love reading books. They think that it was boring, how I flip through all the 680 pages and get lost in it. They think that it was something boring people do for I don’t have anything to do with my life and so, books would only be my company. They ask me why I don’t feel so lazy on actually reading all those words and why do I look like I am happy every time I do when they would prefer to watch a movie instead.
The truth is they don’t know anything. They don’t know the pure delight of getting lost with the sentences that are all written inside the book. They don’t know how it feels like to fall in love with fictional characters and how you would imagine their perfect features just by using the words that were provided by the author. They don’t know how it feels like to hold your breath as you flip through the page because you are afraid yet dying to know what will happen next. They don’t know how it feels like to be someone you are not and they don’t know how much thrill I feel when I get to travel to places that don’t
even exist. Books are the most awesome things ever and they don’t know how to appreciate them.
Through books, I could be anything I want to be. I could be a vampire. living in Johannesburg, Southafrica with your powerful family. I could be a half-angel, half-human or a Shadowhunter who fights down the demons until your very last breath. I could be a demigod who has the power similar to my God parent and I could defeat all the monsters that may attack me. I could be the victor in the 74th Hunger Games and the one they call, “The Girl on Fire.” I could be in love with someone who is so much perfect to be real just like Augustus Waters and I could also get my heart broken by someone so reckless just like Ed. I could be the strongest or the weakest one, I could break or make my own heart over and over again. I could be anyone I want just by flipping through the pages because books are just so magical like that.
Books could also be a ticket to the world, and sometimes, even out of this world. It took me to the most distant future just like the time when people started to view love as a disease or what they call Amor Delirius Nervosa and they even formulated a cure in it so that no one’s gonna be capable of loving. It also took me to Hex Hall where all of the witches and fairies study. They have these cool powers that will surely amaze you. It took me to The Selection where I competed to be a princess and win Prince Maxon’s heart. And it could take me to a lot more places. It could take me to a whole new different world and I would enjoy it because it is so much refreshing than facing the same things over and over again and that is why books are so amazing.
Books could also make me meet a lot of awesome people just like Tris Prior who is such a brave girl that she even chose to be Dauntless even when she grew up as an Abnegation. I met Lena Duchannes who is a caster and her ever loving mortal boyfriend, Ethan Wate, who supports her even when they are not supposed to be together. I met Margo Roth Spiegelman and Alaska Young who are both hot and love adventures. I met Magnus Bane who is a warlock and his lover, Alex Lightwood who is a shadowhunter. I met Peeta Mellark, the boy with bread or even Perry who lives into the never sky.
I met and I will still meet a lot of different people and some of them are not even human but I would enjoy interacting with them because the words that were used to describe them made them so fascinating to even worry.
HAVE YOU SEEN?
Books could widen my imaginations more than I could ever imagine. Every chapter is like a milestone that adds to my mind bank of knowledge and even adventures. Every time I read, I will feel, I will dream, I will be someone I never thought I would be, I will go to a place
where I don’t even know the exact location, I will see whatever we want to see and I will enjoy it, I will learn a lot of lessons that I couldn’t learn with this life and I will hop through a world at a time every chance I get.
That is why I read books; they provide me the paradise that I always seek and they will never get tired of it as long as I never get tired of reading.
