Buhari doesn’t have to use the word “lazy” before discerning people know that, that was the meaning he was conveying – Prof Farooq Kperogi

First, “a lot of” means “a majority of.” “Majority” means more than half. Second, Buhari doesn’t have to use the word “lazy” before discerning people know that, that was the meaning he was conveying. When you “sit and do nothing” (Buhari’s words) you are lazy. Pure and simple. You can’t twist that. I don’t have to call you a “thief” before you know that’s what I mean when I say you take people’s things without their permission. I don’t have to call you a “murderer” before you know that’s what I mean when I say you take people’s lives without just cause. I think Buhari defenders need to go back to school and learn some basic English grammar.

  1. Nigerian youths are the most hard working youths I have ever seen. It is mostly in Nigeria that one sees the youths struggling on their own, and most times succeed without the help or assistance of their government. Take myself for instance, I have been a graduate since 2014, served since 2015, yet till now no government job. Since then till now, I have been struggling on my own to succeed without being involved in any illegal or criminal act. With my pen and paper, working with private organization where I earn undeserved insults and payment. Yet I still endured, determined and resolved to continue struggling, being committed and hard working until I make head way in life without denting my image, that of my family and the nation as a whole.

I believe and know that there are thousands and millions of youths like me, who are determined and are struggling to succeed without being involved in any form of crime. But it is heart breaking and killing to hear that our father, who we look up to and are still looking up to, said we are lazy.
