Justice over policeman who shot student over N100,000

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a policeman who allegedly shot a polytechnic student, Sofia Ogogo, and a civil servant, Victor Emeagwai, at a checkpoint in Ibusa near Asaba, the state capital.

The suspect, Sampson Abuo was attached to the Igbuzo Police division. Abuo shot Ogogo while he was in company with 4 other policemen at the checkpoint set up along Ibusa Market road.

According to a statement signed by the spokesperson for the command, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, on Friday, the divisional police officer in charge of the area and the officer who led the team to the checkpoint had also been queried by the command over the incident.

The sum of N100,000 was made available to enable immediaten treatment of the victim. Investigation has commenced and photographs and other documentary evidences were taken by the police to be attached to the case diary.
