DRIFTING DREAMS

By

DR ONAH STANLEY K

Ever seen a clime as our Nigeria
Where most are mired in hysteria
For how long shall we lay in wait
As dire lack leads to cringe in gait

Long have many cranked in pain
With great grit they hunt for grain
Always wishing for sudden bloom
As they break the curse of gloom

Hard as we all soak the shame
None is wont to take the blame
Yet the pipe of faith many dope
Always sipping the cup of hope

Regardless of how sore we starve
Persisting patience all must have
Mirth may someday be our song
Only for those who’ll live that long

In our leaders lies not the answer
Because all of us brew the cancer
Just about time we looked inward
It’s the only way of sailing forward
