Silver Jubilee: Urhobo Youths Congratulate Okowa
The Urhobo youths under the aegis of the Urhobo Youth Leaders Association (UYLA) have congratulated the Executive Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa
on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of the State. Delta State was carved out of the former Bendel State on August 27, 1991.
In a statement signed by the association’s National President, Comrade Francis Arhiyor and the National Secretary, Comrade Vincent Oyibode which was made available to reporters in Effurun, the group congratulated Governor Okowa on his laudable achievements and the ability to pilot Delta State well for the past one year despite the dwindling economic situation in Nigeria. The statement attributed the success story of the SMART agenda to the Governor’s landmark experience in various administrative positions such as Chairman (Ika North East Local Government Council), Commissioner (Agriculture and Natural Resources, Water Resources Development and Health), Secretary to State Government (SSG) and Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District.
The statement reads “We, members of the Urhobo Youth Leaders Association cherish Senator Okowa as a political icon, an achiever of no mean repute, a trail blazer and a mentor to generations of youths in Delta State and Nigeria. As a result of his sterling leadership qualities and experience in good governance over the years, we have confidence in his ability to contribute more to the success of the Peoples Democratic Party’s led administration, in line with the SMART agenda to achieve the prosperity mantra for all Deltans”.
While calling on the Governor to make workers salaries a priority, the group thanked the Urhobo, Itsekiri, Isoko, Ijaw (Izon), Ukwuani and Anioma for the continuous support for this administration. It urged Senator Okowa to continue to lead with the fear of God in delivering the full package of the prosperity agenda to every part of the State. “The members of UYLA believe on the wealth of experience of Senator Okowa in good governance and to harmonize the different ethnic groups to move the State to the next level. We pray that God Almighty will continue to protect him and give him wisdom to discharge his duties to the benefits of all Deltans”.
