PENGICIAN QUARTERLY BLAST (SEASON 1)
THE SHOW AND THE LESSONS
The evidence of team work can never be over accentuated.
The five (5) supereminent organisers of the PENGICIAN QUARTERLY BLAST (Season 1) were:
2. Asuai Kosi also known as DIBA, the CEO of the Catz Company.
3. Uvienutome Ejeke, Head, Media and Communication Pengician.com and the CEO of Tomegraf Communications.
4. Prophet Senge
5. MC Blaze
They were able to summon courage to organise the show without sponsorship and they were altruistic enough to make the event a non-gated one.
Who could signal green when we have to leave creativity to the creative prime movers in our planet?
PENGICIAN BLAST (season 1) was one evergreen creative memory people will live to pass on from their generation to the next.
Organising shows of this magnitude is not a child’s play in any area and facet especially the free admittance of all members.
The Swag City Lounge management confirmed it as a show that has brought the highest sale of liquor and soft drinks since their opening ceremony on 2nd July, 2016.
Pengician QUARTERLY BLAST SEASON 1 was held at Swag City Lounge, opposite Agofure park, ABRAKA Delta State, Nigeria on Friday, 22nd July, 2016.
The show which was scheduled to kick off at 5pm finally started at 7.05pm with the opening prayer said by BLACKY JUDITH OGHENETEGA a graduate of Theatre Arts (2015).
It was anchor to an extent by SIR A-ONE till the arrival of the Host MCs:
Mi Presh and FlashDrive.
At 5.24pm, Sir Alaska Ekele the Publisher of Ndokwa Vanguard Newspaper was already seated in the hall.
His appearance was immediately followed by the Literary Trinity: Dr. B.C. Anyanwu the P.R.O of ANA Delta, Dr. Greene Okome the Treasurer of ANA Delta, with a three minutes later appearance of Dr. Martins Tugbokorowei the Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Delta State Chapter.
Minutes later, Goodnews Andrew Eruemuare also known as SIR A-ONE warmly received them and other members who were in attendance at that early stage.
Africa is one continent known for their African Time (lateness). People started flocking the venue at about 7.34pm.
The above Literary Trinity’s were the Judges who would have judged the Drama performance crew. But unfortunately, the drama units were not allowed performance due to an initial technical issue. The Trinity left at 7.15pm due to the dark hands of the night that were fast becoming bigger like the firmament.
The drama crews that were much around before 6.15pm were:
1. Royal Ministers of the Baptist Students Fellowship (BSF).
2. Our Saviour Chapel that came in with their brand-new Toyota Bus.
DJ Hype who was the man behind the wheels and steel was being deputised by his Trainee till his arrival at 8.34pm. Africans and their lateness liquid that flow through their veins.
The very first performance of the night was a Spoken Word. The Figure of Speech (FOS) movement icon, Hillary Uzoma U also known as Hillaryoux who came all the way from Asaba the capital of Delta State presented well cooked spoken words to the audience and was immediately followed by the performance of the Assistant General Secretary of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Delta State Chapter, Mamus Ejeba DeGreat who rendered two fine poems with an infusion of a breathtaking chorus to pilot his message home. Without delay, it was followed by the Creative Writers’ Association of Nigeria (CWAN) Delta State chapter assistant Coordinator, Okeme James Jerome who presented a piece to entertain the house that was going gaga with creativity of the finest grains.
A musical interlude followed before SIR A-ONE came on stage to welcome the audience to the atmosphere of creativity.
At about 9pm, SK Nwaejie stormed the building all the way from Owerri with his Navy blue agbada that even made the bouncers confuse him for an icon who just returned from Mecca with his fine black portable bag. He was welcome and he stood up to wave to the house.
Some of the Artistes that performed were:
•Basicz who caught the attention of all with his electrifying rap lyrics.
•MC Flash drive,
•MC China Phone,
Some persons worth mentioning at the event are:
Asuai Kosi a.k.a DIBA (CEO) of The Catz Company, Prophet Senge, MC Blaze, Amas J, Edore Fred the Delta Youth Reorientation Forum (DYRF) Founder, John Odhe, Abolo Henshell, Sir Vic-Money Long Like India Film, Asoke a.k.a Saudi Kiyal, Mj, Emeka, Ighomuaye Ufuoma Kelvinson a.k.a PIERCEZ DeGr8, Zico Baba, Mary, Christabel, Laura Adibeli, Chinoye Precious Adibeli, Jane, Cynthia, Magnus Baba, Tega, Nancy, Naomi, Okolugbo UCHE Charles, German Sandra a.k.a Sandiquin, MC Bornco the Swag City Emcee, MC Bonju, Mokobia Pascal a.k.a P-Blaze, Calusi the Students Union Government (SUG) President and his entourage. Winnerman, DONATUS DON ENUBUZOR an Editor and Administrator of Pengician.com, Ejeke Uvienutome the Head of Media and Communication, Pengician.com, Sajini and his entourage, Ice the Magic Man, Kenny Brown CEO of EVIL MIC entertainment and a host of others.
At about 10.23pm, a total of 3,512 persons were recorded.
Chairs were brought on two different occasions because of the crowd. Despite all that, the number of those who stood were three times the number of those who were having chairs to sit.
The gate was almost pulled down at about 10pm because of the crowd coming and going out. It was a Friday. And Fridays are the busiest in the city of Abraka.
The number of graduands who storm the hall with their chicks outnumber the people who came alone. It was more or less like an avenue for them to enjoy and flex their graduation with no gate pass. Almost 89% of Delsuites finished their exams that same day and they had to pull their friends to come for a free show.
What a perfect date and time?
“The atmosphere of creativity”
is indeed the perfect phrase for the PENGICIAN BLAST (Season 1).
The performance of ICE DE MAGIC MAN was the longest performance that lasted almost 14 minutes. The way he was performing Magic, swallowing fire, bailing water with his Bournvita Tin made-filter, holding water with his newspaper, robbing his private parts and body with fire etc made almost everyone stand in order to watch him. A performance that almost plucked up some hearts from their compartments. It was more or less the more you look, the less you see.
Merlin and Morgana’s Magic were doing I.T where ICE DE MAGIC MAN was. No special effects were attached. It was a live display.
Many were bid to perform but they were not allowed due to time constraints.
To sum it up, Poetry, Comedy and Music took better part of the season 1.
No Dance and Drama took place at all because of the tight schedule of activities for the night.
The adiposity of the show cannot be covered in megabytes but in terabytes.
ABRAKA indeed really came alive with creativity like never before.
1. Starting late is not always good.
2. Not allowing many artistes to perform will always make the up and coming stars feel bad.
3. The choice of Hall.
4. Nothing can be perfect under the sun, though.
If am to rate this Pengician (BLAST SEASON 1), I will give the show a 68. The score sheet of a “B”.
In terms of sponsorship, I was made to understand that there was no sponsorship except the Authentic Aluminum Nigeria Enterprise CEO, Engr. Friday O. Eruemuare who supported them with N5,000
the Ndokwa Vanguard Newspaper Publisher, Sir Alaska Ekele who gave them the sum of N5,000.
CERTIFICATES were presented to Artistes.
MI Presh and FlashDrive really did justice to creativity in the show.
Big ups to them.
QUESTION: Why do some artistes always want to perform in shows they never made an earlier enquiry and secure a performance right?
On behalf of the CEO of Pengician.com and the CEO of the Catz Company,
Sincere apologies to the following:
1. MC Ukwa who couldn’t make it from Lagos due to logistics.
2. Graciano from Port Harcourt who couldn’t make it to the show for logistics.
3. Amas J who could not perform due to time constraints.
4. The Royal Ministers (Baptist Students Fellowship) who couldn’t perform.
5. Our Saviour’s Chapel drama crew who were not given the opportunity to perform for the little technical hiccups witnessed at the beginning of the show.
6. Aishat Dopest, Kenny Brown and K Bio, that couldn’t perform due to time factor.
We love you now and always.
