TO THE CHURCHES/CHAPELS/MOSQUES IN GOVERNMENT HOUSES
“We want to start hearing your voices in the Change of attitude of your hearers. Contribute to positive change, not change of currency.”
“Don’t be tired in speaking the truth; it has no price, so you spend nothing in preaching it.”
I woke up this morning with some thoughts in my head and these thoughts led to questions. It became a jumble as some proverbs and quotations joined in.
Does an old man stay at home while a goat, a horse, indeed a domestic animal foals at the tether? “I told them, but they would not listen,” Does that exculpate a person from blame or from being an accomplice? As Soyinka makes us to understand, the man dies in himself, who keeps silent in the face of tyranny.
Edmund Burke had said the same thing earlier in different words:
“All that is required for the success of evil is that good men keep quiet and do nothing.”
With these thoughts running through my mind, I now asked myself the question. “Do the various state governments and the Presidency have CHAPELS, CHURCHES, and or MOSQUES in their States, where the governors, President, Ministers etc worship? Of course, the question is rhetorical. However, the next isn’t. The pastors, priests, imams or whatever the designation of the preachers, who run these CHURCHES/MOSQUES in government HOUSES, do they consider themselves as part of the ruling class or as men whose concern is with the word?
To whom do they owe allegiance?
This question begets another but that depends on how they see themselves.
If they are part of the ruling class, to whom and what do they preach about? If on the other hand, they are ministers of God and imams of Allah, what is their focus in government house?
Their business should be chiefly to help stir the ship of state. Indeed, they control the state. The idea is that these pastors, priests and imams have the ears and eyes of State and are in a position to “Control,” “guide” and “educate” their congregation. Thus, preaching and condemnation of corruption should begin with them.
It is not enough for any of them to say “We preached, they would not listen; we sang, they did not dance, and we condemned, but they would not repent.”
If these men of God and Allah are alive to their calling (for those of them who were called), there is no way our country should not be a better place. They should not allow themselves to become the congregation. One of the governors in the south-southeast stopped attending Churches because he was not comfortable with the preaching.
He does not hear what he wants to hear_Praises and choruses on his media oriented achievements.
He then became the “Chaplain,” “Evangelist” and or “pastor” of his government house Chapel. He is either the one who ministers, or rounds up the preaching when the ordained minister has finished! Who will Bell the cat?
This message is for the ministers of God and the Imams of Allah who work in the various government House Chapels and Mosques. Speak, let it be said you have spoken. If you have not been doing what you should do, wake up; it is never too late to seek a Newer World. Defend yourself, let it be said, they did not listen. We want to start hearing your voices in the Change of attitude of your hearers. Contribute to positive change, not change of currency. We hold you responsible if the Society goes bad and give you credit if all goes well.
Politics is in the Church, we know but let the politics of truth prevail. “Follow truth with all men and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. ” It is your duty to:
Guide politicians with truth and sincerity, without which no Society can be edified!
May God bless you as you do this.
Don’t be tired in speaking the truth; it has no price, so you spend nothing in preaching it.
